Ina Morava
Ina Morava lives in Oakland, CA, and works with fresco, oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media. She also plays piano and trumpet, and runs Wooden Fish Art Studio, where she teaches art classes.
Her fresco practice is rooted in an old icon-making tradition and unfolds through a slow, layered process: priming wooden boards, applying gauze with rabbit-skin glue, building multiple coats of gesso, shaping an aged surface, painting with egg tempera, and finally varnishing the finished piece. The result is work that feels tactile and timeworn, yet colorful and breezy.
